Merry Christmas!

December 25th, 2009

Sitting here at home in Federal Way on Christmas day ! I’m really happy I got a chance to come home for a couple days and spend time with the family. It’s not often that we are all home together.

The games are coming very soon and I’m really looking forward to sharing the experience with the rest of the world.

I am now back training with the team full time and getting prepared for what is to come in February.

I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays!

I would like to thank you for sharing your story and sharing your sport with the world. You have such a passion and such a drive in life and it is very inspirational to anyone with any dream. I know for me the story of your accident and then you thinking that you couldn’t continue doing something you love and then getting right back out there and not giving up is something that really makes me smile. I think for someone like me, I would have given up knowing that there was no way I could get back out there becuase I would be afraid. Even though, I don’t know you and you don’t know me with the passion that you bring to the ice and with the passion of your time with family and with the gratitude you have towards all the supporters is something that is fantastic and something that keeps me motivated through my times of trails and struggles. At times when I feel like giving up i simply think of the trial that God tested you in and I know that I can make it through mine. (your trial will possibly be harder than possibly any of mine :] but still). You put your full faith in the Lord and knew that the faith you had in him that he had a plan for you in your life and that plan was for you to win the bronze. :] congrats by the way. I just really would like to thank you for that. I hope that sometime in this life God will have our paths cross so we could meet eachother in some way shape or form, but if not just know that I’m thankful for the inspiration and the motivation you not only give me, but that you give the millions of people around the world.

Congratulations! We were excited to see a Filipino-American Olympian in the Winter Olympics especially in short-track. We’ve been watching the sport since we noticed a Fil-Am competing. Our family was cheering you on!!! Thank you for sharing your story with us and were glad you were able to get back in training for the Olympics despite your accident Your spirit, dedication, passion and determination is admirable. I am sure your family support helped you through it. Keep up it and don’t let Saturday’s misfortunate deter you from your goal of winning gold.

What a great way to advertise your pride for the Phillipines and your Mom! Hope to see you in 2014.

    Work hard! Keep fighting!

    Smile,

    Hi JR-

I have some odd connections to you. Just two, but I think it’s cool. Alright first is that my friend (Kevin C) met you at a Filipino party once, and my friend is the friend of your old girlfriend… Honestly I’m not a weirdo, people tell me these things! Well getting to the main point, I’m a huge fan of yours because of your story and your skating. You are, seriously, the next Apolo Ohno! I’ll be watching for the relay tomorrow and I wish you all the best of luck! Seattle says hi:)

    Good luck,

    Laura

    Dear J.R. Celski,
Your story as truly has inspired me to do my best! Ever since I was younger I had dreamed about being a Winter Olympian. I wanted to have a gold medal in figure skating until a knee injury ended those dreams. I hope by continuing to eat a balanced diet I could have the possibility of at least going to the Olympic Trials for swimming. Everyday that I will be doing this your story will be in my head helping me to push myself farther, to push it to the limit. You are my inspiration! I know in this message I said it alot but you really are an inspiration to me and others out there! Good Luck and God Bless you and your family!
