This week was definitely the best week of my recovery process so far. This week I:
-Rode the bike hard
-Did dryland (up downs and dryskate)
-Used the swimex
These are humongous leaps that let me know I am on the right track. I am excited to get back on the ice in a couple weeks, but before I do that, I have to run and get stable on the injured leg.
I had a really good week with my family. My parents came down on Wednesday and got to see a couple days of rehab. It’s always nice to be able to hang out, and spend the much needed time with them. I know it’s hard for them to watch me grow up hundreds of miles away, but we remain very close and I am so happy for that. My cousin Michaela flew down on Friday to spend Halloween with us. It turned out to be an awesome day, but we only had 3 groups knock on our door! Colorado Springs needs to step their holiday spirit up! Jordan also came this weekend on Saturday. Finally I have a teammate to hang out with(!) although I’d rather he not be here. He will be back soon though and I am happy about that.
Today Michaela, Brit, Jordan and I went up to Denver to spend the day there. It was gorgeous out. We visited the Cherry Creek mall, 16th street in downtown Denver, and ate at the Sushi Den again. We had a lot of fun, and got a chance to get out and laugh for a while.
I leave tomorrow for Denver again, and take off Tuesday morning for New York for the USOC event. Make sure to watch me on the Today Show on Wednesday! That should be pretty fun. During my stay in New York I hope to get a chance to roam the city, and eat some famous New York food. Brandon will show me around the city, while we both boo the Yankee supporters =]
On Thursday morning I travel to Quebec, and stay the weekend to watch the World Cup (Olympic Qualifiers). I am really excited to see my team kill it out there!
A big thank you goes to Niel Mansilla for getting this website domain for me. He made it so I didn’t have to use a domain like www.jrcelski13.com Thank you so much for doing that.
My Dad just recently had his birthday (he turned 28 ;]) Happy birthday Dad! My Godfather Daryl also had his birthday recently. Daryl got a chance to visit me twice while he was out here. We had a good time taking some pictures, and getting some good food in. Thanks again for making that drive and spending some quality time with me! My auntie Virginia also had her birthday! Happy Birthday Auntie Vir!
I will update next week with some pictures from the NY trip and World Cup Comp.
Buenas!

Keep up the great work hon. It is awesome how far you have come in such a short time when I think about seeing you fall on that ice and knowing how bad it must be. You will have to yell really hard for your teammates in Montreal to make up for me too! Take good care of yourself while you travel.
Love you J.R.
Hey J.R. I had a chance to talk to your Mom last night. You bring such love and joy to your parents! I got to see the “faces” you drew on your leg. Your Mom and I were cracking up. Aww you did not inherit her artistic ability : ) ! As for trying to pass your Dad as just turning 28 – hmmm in his 35 year old robe…LOL you sound like you are in very healthy spirits!
We are always happy to hear you’re doing well.
Accept each day exactly as it comes to you. You know who you can trust and rely on.
Miss you and love you lots.
Auntie Judy and Uncle Diamond
Great job on the Today show altho I’d rather hear you talk than Shaun, but he’s cool. My Montreal trip got knocked out when one of my show dogs broke a foot and needs a lot of care (not the Corgi I named for Jordan!). Rehab suggestions welcome.
My pals are enroute to Montreal and will be screaming for the team and calling me with results. See you in Vancouver.
congratss on ure bronze! not the best, but still awesome! we all love you and are rooting for you 24/7. good luck and have fun! Remember, never give up because life is too short to let opertunities like this pass you by! xoxoxoxo.
hey there jr,
I just wanted to say that you are nothing else but amazing. I love your inspirational story. You are so crazy for persevering though your injury and wanting to come back. And look, you made it; you won bronze! (ps I was yelling for when I watched it! haha). Good luck at the rest of the Olympics! I hope you will be at the next winter Olympics in 2014! O and I bought a Just Rocks! T-shirt, I’m so excited to get it and cheer you on! (not in a creepy way).
But anyways, what I really wanted to tell you is that you have inspired me. You have inspired me to accomplish my next goals.
My first goal is to get in shape. I already in pretty good shape, but ive always wanted to be in amazing shape. And ive had a little bump in the road like you, but not as serious, I dislocated my knee back in the first week of September. And I know it’s a long time ago, and I should be back in shape by now, but it’s just hard to tell myself to do it, and go work out! Haha. But lately, I have been eating healthy, and going on the stair master a lot. Haha. C:
Second, is that get me gpa to a 4.0, so I can get into the college I want to, Cal Poly. And third, I want to become a Youth National Champion again for horseback riding.
Lastly, I wanted to say that is pretty sick tattoo! Haha.
And thank you for being such an inspiration!

OMG!! I lovee youu JR!! I wish I could meet you!!!!!
I’m filipino too! I wish I was polish, so I could be EXACTLY like you! I wish I got to meet you! You drew smiley faces on your legs?!? COOL! I want to know every detail, since I’m like obsessed with you!! haha!
We love you, really!!
Hey. J.R. I hope your doing well, I just wanted to take the time to talk and tell you some things and I hope they mean a lot and put a smile on YOUR face! =] I just wanted to let you know what an inpiration you are….to me….also when I read about the music you liked I listened to it and it was really good. =] Loved it. And your sososo funny. Believe me I would have tried to pass my dad for 28 too. I mean who doesn’t do that?? Lol. I think your an amazing speed-skater, and I mean I am not the best ice skater, well I’m not good AT ALL..haha.
…I have gone recently and I couldn’t stand for two minutes without falling…Lol….I am an amazing roller-bladder though! Haha. One time on a school trip back when I was younger we went roller-bladding didn’t fall once! Ahaha…and for me that’s good. I am very cordinated and athletic, just not on ice. Hahaha. But when I was younger I would always roller blade in my basement, and when I was younger I would go ice-skating more often and you know like everyother 7 and 8 year old you would go really fast- fall- and then go really fast again!…I was like that. Haha. Just popped right back up. I think you and Apolo are amazing and your right what does he have that you don’t have. Your amazing and just as good, we all make mistakes so don’t even worry and never live with regrets!! And I think that this quote would be really good for you and help you through tough times, “tough times don’t last….tough people do”….so you never gave up after that gruesome injury and you chased after your dreams and that’s something that you have deffinately tought me to do. I know this doesn’t have to do with speed-skating but it’s something I love and something I plan to fu-fill with my best friend. We plan to become famous actress and singers on Disney Channel, haha, I know it sounds corny but I love Disney! And I really hope your reading this, because I really want you to know how inpirational you are to kids and people EVERYWHERE, you are truely amazing, and adorable! <3 haha. I also wanted to say that that I am in an art class in school, and my art teacher showed us this video about the children of Uganda and how their lifes are so cruel and how they are kidnapped and the boys sent to war at the age as young as 12 I think it was, and the girl rapped and diagnosed with HIV, and we (my school) got a chance to set up an organization called "Book of Hope" with a company and make books to send to the children of Uganada, and getting to see the reaction on their faces and how greatful they are is the best feeling in the world, and another great part of becoming a famous actress and singer on Disney Channel, and what better way then with your best friend, is becoming an inspiration and role-model to kids everywhere. I would love to know that millions of children look up to me, believe in me, and for me to bring joy to them through comedy, and to write song about things that they can relate to, and dance to and cheer them up. =] (And I am a sucker for the Disney Channel) it is truely amazing and they have these new commercials that are sososo inspirational and amazing I love them. They make me smile, and I love to smile and laugh and bring joy and laughter to others, and I love to joke around with my friends and make them laugh, and them to make me laugh. =] So friends and family really are a big part of things that you accomplish, but just as important are the fans!!!! They are the big supporters too, because they are the ones who put you where you are today, and if you think about it, you wouldn't be anywhere without them, It would mean the world to me if you read this and replied. I know I wrote a lot and you are very busy with your training, oh and I was sosososososososososo upset when you were diqualified, I think it wasn't your fault at all!!!! Ok, the Canadian was like grabbing you all over your legs and the Korean behind him put his hand on his back and pushed him, NOT to be mean- but the judge needs to clean of his glasses or check his perscription again cause it wasn't your fault at all, and when he did fall he wasn't even in qualifying position and also when you so called "caused the crash" or "pushed him into the boards"….I thought you were just coming out of the turn and building your momentum by pumping your arms and he was just in the way and your arm hit him and knocked him, BUT it wasn't intended, (it wasn't, was it??) I don't think it was so you don't have to answer that question I know you wouldn't do that, you are a very very very very sweet, kind, humble, cute boy who has a dream, a goal, and talent. So don't worry theres always next time and remember, NEVER EVER EVER give up! Try as hard as you can in everything you do, and just be yourself and you will go places J.R.! I wish I could meet you, and just talk to you, you have no idea! Maybe when me and my best friend become famous we can hangout, I'll text you! Lol. Well I wish you all the best, and congradulations through your amazing recovery and the rest of your time in Vancouver (I used to ski there) and the rest of your career, Your amazing, an inspiration, and if and WHEN (haha
) I meet you we have to go on itunes and you have to show and download some songs for me! =] Best of luck again! God bless you and your family, and hope to see you back on the ice in 2014!! -)
Yours Truely,
Sophia :]
Maybe you were just in the wrong part of town for halloween. In some places we still crave pumpkins. = )
